This delicious natural food recipe consists of two different doughs: black dough and white doug. Whole wheat flour, cornmeal and peanut butter form the base of the white dough, while molasses and cinnamon add colour to the black dough.

Natural food recipe for healthy dog – White Dough Ingredients

8 cups o whole wheat flour
1 cup of cornmeal
3 cups of water
2 eggs
½ cup of homemade peanut butter

8 cups of whole wheat flour
1 cup of cornmeal
3 cups of water
2 eggs
½ cup of molasses
1 tablespoon of canola oil
1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Start by making the white dough. Mix whole wheat flour with cornmeal.
Stir in water, eggs and peanut butter.
Knead until it becomes a smooth dough. If necessary, add more whole wheat flour while kneading. The dough should be quite stiff.
Set the white dough aside and prepare the black dough. Mix whole wheat flour with cornmeal.
Stir in water, eggs, molasses, canola oil and cinnamon. Knead just like the white dough.
Flour a surface and roll the white dough into a rectangle, rough ½ inch thick.
Roll the black dough into the same shape.
Use water to gently spritz the top of the white dough.
Place the black dough on top of the white dough.
Fold tightly from the long edge, just as if you were making jellyroll.
Wrap up the roll in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for at least 60 minutes.
When the roll is stiff, cut it up in ½ inch thick biscuits.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees C and bake the biscuits for 60 minutes.
Turn the oven off, but leave the biscuits inside. Open up the oven door a bit and leave the biscuits until they have become hard (at least 8 hours).

4 cups of all purpose flour
2 cups of whole wheat flour
2 cups of bulgur
1 cup of cornmeal
1 cup of rye flour

¼ cup of semi-warm water
¼ cup of skimmed milk
2 cups of beef stock
1 egg

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
Mix all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, bulgur, cornmeal and rye flour together in a large bowl.
Mix yeast with water.
Add skimmed milk and beef stock to the yeast mixture and stir in the egg.
Mix dry and wet ingredients together.
Knead on a floured surface until you have smooth, stiff dough. Add more flour if necessary.
Roll the dough into sheets, approximately ¼ inch thick.
Use knife or cookie cutter to cut out shapes and place the crunchers-to-be on a baking sheet.
Bake for 45 minutes.
Turn the oven off, but leave the biscuits inside until they become hard.
